Meet Graham – Senior project/resource controller

Tell us a little about your background.

I joined the British Army aged 16 and spent 23 years as an aircraft engineering manager working mainly on Scout, Gazelle and Lynx Helicopters, and the Phoenix UAV. In 2004, I joined the Company as I wanted to continue working within defence, and initially worked on Bowman as the lab manager – followed by customer support. I’ve also been deployed overseas, supporting teams in the Middle East.

I moved onto a new opportunity but later returned to join the Hastings team as an engineering manager. It was a chance to work with a different part of the business after being mainly with Tactical Communications business – also allowing me to go back to my aircraft roots! I thought it was time to retire but there’s always one last challenge left in you – so I returned and am working with the planning team in Hastings. What do you enjoy most about your role?

What do you enjoy most about working for General Dynamics?

I’ve always enjoyed working here due to the people, it’s what makes the Company – the quality and dedication of everyone is outstanding and it’s great to see young engineers challenge what and why we do things. The management team know what I’m doing and I’m given the flexibility and trust to get on and do it.

Can you share a fun fact about you?

I played Rugby for the British Army and Combined Services and had the opportunity to play at Twickenham in the Inter Services Competition. Not surprisingly, teamwork is at the heart of everything I do.
