Meet Matt, graduate project manager based at Oakdale, who joined the Company in September 2017. In his spare time, Matt is a sports and fitness enthusiast.
Why did you choose to pursue a career within the Company?
After I learned about the graduate scheme and the opportunities available within the Company, I applied for the scheme during my final year at Cardiff University, where I was studying Business Management. The Company seemed a great fit, particularly with my interest in the military.
What does your role entail?
Since joining the scheme, I have joined the EvO programme as a graduate project manager. Currently, my first rotation involves working within the system integration and test team. My core role also involves the management of equipment, information, and resources for the EvO programme – working closely with the customer between both Oakdale and the joining programme office in Bristol to ensure all contractual requirements are delivered. I enjoy that I have a variety of different tasks to get involved with, alongside the daily challenges that I have to overcome – the positive and helpful atmosphere always helps with that.
What are your future plans?
I plan to build on my knowledge of General Dynamics UK as a whole, and more specifically on the EvO programme from rotations around different areas including system integration and test platforms, and both the value stream and Agile release trains within the scaled Agile framework adopted by the programme.
I also plan on working towards achieving my Association of Programme Management qualification during the graduate scheme and plan to progress through the Company via the graduate scheme.
