OAKDALE– General Dynamics Mission Systems–United Kingdom has officially launched the next generation Compact Tactical Gateway (CTG) at Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) 2023.

The Compact Tactical Gateway is the newest addition to General Dynamics’ suite of secure gateways, and has been developed in response to operational feedback from the British Army. The Compact Tactical Gateway keeps users connected with a rapidly deployable system designed to provide a secure boundary point connected to their critical networks. This new small-form factor product addresses the Size, Weight and Power (SWaP) challenges of extending mission-critical interoperability at the lower echelons of the tactical space. General Dynamics has created a highly portable, rugged, and efficient gateway with broader performance and functionality.

The CTG is compact, with a simplified design that can be quickly deployed and accelerates decision cycles in urgent deployments where time is of the essence. The customisable solution allows for greater versatility and flexibility making it suitable for evolving mission requirements. The CTG can be easily integrated with existing systems, enabling seamless communication and data exchange, enhancing overall coordination, and improving situational awareness.

“Our new product has been developed in response to user feedback from the British Army deployment in Estonia, where a rapidly deployable version of existing solutions was suggested,” says Bleddyn Carrington, Lead Engineer for applications and Interoperability at GDUK. “Our ongoing research and development has realized this leap forward in our thinking and shows our capabilities are able to adapt for the ever-changing battlespace.”

Critical applications can be loaded before deployment and re-configured on-the-go with ease to meet evolving mission requirements. This latest gateway has increased processing capability through the modular plug in of additional hardware, while the customisable software solution enables new additional services to be added, removed, or upgraded. Deployed at a lower level in the tactical domain, the CTG’s rugged housing, small size and lightweight design allows it to be exploited at a location of opportunity and at short notice.
