Prior to joining the scheme, Imogen graduated with a first class honours BSc from Coventry University in Combined Engineering. The course was a general engineering degree, focusing on electrical and mechanical engineering.

Tell us about your role?

I joined the graduate scheme with the Internal Research and Development (IRAD) team on systems and hardware design. Currently, I am working on the hardware design for the Distributed Stores Management System. This involves using mentor expedition to create the schematics for the mezzanine, reusing existing designs and creating my own.

I also get involved with supporting the promotion of STEM events within the local area. This includes supporting the Engineering Education Scheme, alumni talks at Coventry University, women in engineering talks and speed networking at local schools. I also support and lead work experience placements for school students and recently supported Farnborough Air Show.

My role in supporting STEM events includes encouraging young people to take part in different activities, with some of my favourite activities being the simple circuit badges and the Arduino code, as it is interactive and allows people of all ages to try out different types of engineering activities such as hardware and software engineering.

“The job is rewarding which allows me to push myself and constantly learn.”

What are your future career plans?

I plan to continue to develop myself in a hardware engineering role, by learning from the more experienced engineers within the business and integrating new and evolving technology into my designs.
